Non-Timber Forest Products and Bioeconomy

We have been happy to receive numerous high-quality submissions, of which the organizing committee has selected 22 oral and 33 poster presentations. Practical Instructions for presentations can be found here.

Call for abstracts

The Conference on Non-Timber Forest Products and Bioeconomy, held on 28–30 November 2017 in Rovaniemi, Finland, now calls for abstracts for both oral and poster presentation. Submitted abstracts will be peer reviewed by at least two experts.

The deadline for abstracts is 21 August 2017. Notification of acceptance will be sent to corresponding authors by 8 September 2017.

There are six topics, of which we kindly ask you to pick up one for your abstract. You can also choose ‘Other’ and specify it in more detail in the next question.


  • Ecological sciences and NTFPs
  • Molecular biology and chemistry of NTFPs
  • Human sciences and NTFPs
  • NTFP production
  • NTFP processing and engineering
  • NTFP commercialization

Abstracts must be max 400 words long, written in English and include text only (no pictures, tables or graphics). Please include keywords at the end of the abstract text.  Do not include references. Abstracts must be submitted electronically using the online abstract submission system (link below).

Instructions about how to use the online system. These instructions will also be sent to you as email attachment as soon as you have first registered in the abstract submission system.

Accepted abstracts will be included in the conference materials in a printed abstract book included in the conference material for all participants.

Please note that at least one presenter for each accepted abstract must register for the conference and pay the registration fee. The registration deadline for accepted presenters is 15 September 2017 (= early bird deadline). Abstracts without a registered presenter by this date will be removed from the conference programme and all materials.

Oral presentations will be allotted 30 minutes (max 20 minutes for presentation and min 3 minutes for questions). Posters will be on display during the whole event and the authors are expected be at their posters during poster session. Poster size A0 (841 x 1189 cm), vertical orientation/ portrait.
