Target group
Sibis Jazz Camp is a jazz music camp suitable for musicians of all levels; amateurs, students and professionals.
Course description
A course built around instrument playing, instrument clinics, lectures, jams and concerts suitable for instrumentalists and singers interested in jazz music. The students of the camp form bands, whose work is the most essential part of the course. The course participants will work on playing together. This work culminates to a concert at the end of the course on Friday 14.6. The camp practices a wide range of jazz music genres from different eras, and the program is developed in collaboration with the students' wishes.
Teachers Ape Anttila (bass, course leader, band), Mikael Jakobsson (piano, band), Adele Sauros (wind instruments, band), Ville Pynssi (drums, band) and Teemu Viinikainen (guitar, band). This year there won't be separate teacher for vocals but singers are very welcome to participate in the camp. Singers will be guided by the instrumental teachers. Teachers will perform in a joint concert on Thursday 13.6.
Only a limited number of students will be admitted to the camp. The course fee includes tuition and concerts.

The course is organized by the Jazz Music Subject Group of the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki.
Location
Teaching takes place at the Seinäjoki unit of the Sibelius Academy, situated at Keskuskatu 32 A 2. Concerts are held at Kalevan Navetta, located at Nyykoolinkatu 25.
Accommodation

Application period: Apply no later than 1.5.2024. You'll get confirmation if your application was granted on week 19.

Cancellation policy: Registration is binding. If the course participant does not cancel his / her participation no later than two weeks before the start of the course (26.5.2024), the registrant will be charged 40% of the course fee. Cancellations made after the start of the training will be charged in full.
