This seminar explores major challenges in chemical safety assessment and regulatory toxicology, including the growing number of substances requiring assessment and the limitations of traditional testing approaches. It addresses complex areas such as chemical mixtures, endocrine-disrupting chemicals and PFAS, where scientific uncertainty and differing perspectives can complicate regulatory decision-making. The seminar also presents emerging scientific approaches, including New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), that can support more efficient and comprehensive chemical risk assessment.
