Call for Papers - Russia Seminar 2027 “Russia’s Preparations and Development for War”

The Finnish National Defence University (FNDU) will organise the 9th annual Russia Seminar on 17-18 February 2027 in Helsinki (Santahamina), Finland.

The Russia Seminar aims to advance deeper discussion on the Russian war against Ukraine and generate new knowledge and insights about the war and contemporary warfare.

The deadline for submitting an abstract is 13 November 2026. The Abstracts will be reviewed by the Seminar organising committee of the Russia Research Group at the National Defence University.

Notifications of acceptance will be sent to the email address provided in this form by 4 December 2026.

The organisers will form a limited number of thematic panels from the highest-rated individual proposals. The panel sessions are 90 minutes in length. Presenters are allotted 20 minutes each with additional 10 minutes for C/Q/A. Presenters are encouraged to prepare a slideshow presentation about the abstract topic.
