Petri Pellikka, 60 years

Welcome to my 60-years birthday party on November 25, 2025, Tavastia-club, Hämäläisten talo, 18.30-

For half of my life, I have been studying or working at the University of Helsinki and third of my life I have been linked to Hämäläis-Osakunta. My academic journey has been within Earth observation and strongly connected to Africa and especially to Taita Research Station in Kenya.

I warmly invite you, whether you are a colleague, family member, relative, old or current student, friend, collaboration partner, or anything to have one evening fun with other participants, me, two rock and pop bands, solo gigs and small talks by honorable guests. The party goes over the midnight for an obvious reason.

There is no entrance fee, but please register by November 20th as we need to know how many are coming. Let us break the record of my 50-years party, when there were over 400 visitors.

Programme:

Flute solo: Albert Lenkiewicz, composer, biology student
Talks: Juhani Merimaa, Tiina Paunio, Pekka Haavisto, Sasu Tarkoma
Rock and pop: End of History, a professor’s band from Faculty of Social Sciences with Jussi Pakkasvirta, Juhana Aunesluoma, Jari Eloranta among others
Solo gig: Kaarle Hämeri, chancellor of the University of Helsinki
Rock: Hillfields, the band including former geography students and staff members with Mika Siljander, Rami Piiroinen, Arto Viinikka among others

Possible gifts can be donated to Kristiina and Petri Pellikka Anniversary Campaign within the Helsinki University Funds. Donations will be used to support MSc theses field work in Africa in my research fields, Geosciences and Geography, and for popularizing science.
