Master Class – “Advanced mode work -Fine-tuning limited reparenting for complex cases "
We are all born with core emotional needs that have to be adaptively met by significant others in order for us to develop into securely attached healthy adults. Severe trauma and/or frustrations of our core needs will lead to the development of painful wounds, dysfunctional coping patterns and major life problems. The relational stance of limited reparenting is used in schema therapy to heal emotional wounds and to model healthy adult behaviors. Limited reparenting can be powerful and effective but it’s a difficult endeavor. The pitfalls are many so it calls for fine-tuned interpersonal skills as a therapist. The aim of this workshop is to help schema therapists to develop a more profound understanding of how to put core emotional needs into action within the therapy relationship when treating complex cases.
The workshop will cover:
Overview of the conceptual model
Ethical perspectives on limited reparenting
Therapists own schemas and modes in a limited reparenting context
Hands on reparenting for:
The Abandoned/Traumatized Child
The Angry Child
The Impulsive Child
The Undisciplined Child
There will be a brief lecture on theoretical concepts, clinical examples and dyadic role-plays around specific modes.
