An Evening of Experimental Music in Mynämäki Church
Join us for a concert evening at Mynämäki Church on Thursday, 23 April at 6 p.m.!
Saxophonist and composer Anna-Sofia Anttonen, current Saari Fellow at the Saari Residence, will perform her composition, inspired by the activities of the whooper swans visiting Mietoinen Bay at their resting place during their northward migration. During her residency, Anttonen has been observing the swans and keeping an experimental diary of their movements, using these notes as material for her composition.
The concert will also feature music for saxophones, ceramic flutes and electronics. Created in collaboration with artist Armi Teva, the Kukkapilli flutes are imaginatively shaped, brightly glazed beings: creatures, animals, flowers and horns. Each flute has its own character, a microtonal and unpredictable scale, and a story. They are like compositions in themselves, and placing them in different contexts takes them on new adventures.
Free admission. The concert is open to all.
