Call for applications to Finnish Red Cross Safety and Security Training 14.-17.05.2026 in Hämeenlinna
Finnish Red Cross Safety and Security training provides the participants an opportunity to learn and understand the security approach of the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement, to discuss and share views and knowledge on personal preparedness, situational analysis, safety and security management and means for prevention and protection in the field as well as to learn and to brush-up skills necessary for functional safety and security in the field.
This is an exercise and simulation-based training. It allows participants to explore how to operate in a high-risk environment and respond to threatening situations and develop relevant skills.
The training is organized in cooperation with Finnish Defense Forces.

Participants
The training is aimed for all Finnish Red Cross aid worker reserve members who are available for deployments within the next 12 months.
Note that the training prepares participants to work in high-risk areas, thus participants must be physically and psychologically fit to cope in a high-stress environment.
The selection of the participants will be made based on the following criteria:
- availability for deployments within the next 12 months
- professional background and delegate profile, suitability for current operations
- previous trainings completed – those with first aid and ERU training will be prioritized
Timing and Venue
The training will start on Thursday 14.05.2026 at 1.30 pm and finish on Sunday 17.05.2026 at 2 pm. Please note that active participation is expected from all training participants for the entire duration of the training.
The onsite training will take place at Hätilä, Finnish Defense Forces Training Centre (Vuorentie 48–80, 13270, Hämeenlinna). The training will be held outside on Friday and Saturday, so appropriate clothing and footwear is needed for both classroom training and outdoor activities.
Accommodation will be arranged in tents during the onsite training.
Participation Fee
The course participation fee is 80 €. Finnish Red Cross members may deduct 20 € from the fee. The participation fee will contribute to covering the training materials, accommodation and meals. If you participate also in the Emergency First Aid Training, 20 euros will be added to your participation fee.
You will be requested to pay the fee if you are accepted to the training. In case you wish to cancel your participation in the training later than five working days before the start of the training, we will consider your participation fee as a contribution to the Finnish Red Cross International Aid.

The training is open for applications until Sunday 08.02.2026. Make sure your REST profile and English CV is up to date. The training applicants will be informed on the selection results by Friday 13.02.2026.
