9th European Sensory Science Society (E3S) symposium Taste of Creativity in 4-5th May 2020 in Helsinki is organised by Sensory Division (ATJ) of Finnish Society of Food Science and Technology (ETS)


The Finnish Society of Food Science and Technology and the European Sensory Science Society have the pleasure to invite you to the 9th E3S Sensory Science Symposium “Taste of Creativity”.

The symposium will aim to promote, disseminate and exchange national and international research outputs in this highly topical research area.

The House of Science and Letters (Tieteiden Talo) is situated in Kirkkokatu 6, Helsinki (on map: B). Both day 1 and day 2 are organized there. It is situated in the city center, near The Old Church of Helsinki (Tuomiokirkko). The house is within walking distance from the conference hotel (Helsinki Sokos Hotel Vaakuna) (on map: A).  

There are screens in the entrace foyer to check in which room is your meeting is placed. The seminar is in the street level seminar room. 



For one country representative E3S covers expenses: accommodation for one night, the networking dinner on Monday and ticket for the seminar. Please contact for further registration information if you don't have the E3S code yet. 

The General Assembly is open for two country representatives for each country. 

The dinner is scheduled so that all attending General Assembly can join the dinner after the meeting. The Opera Tour is during the GA. 



There are rooms reserved for symposium guests from Helsinki Sokos Hotel Vaakuna for one night, for the Monday 4th -Tuesday 5th night.

Hotel is situated in Helsinki next to the main railway center. There is an easy access from the airport, 30 mins train trip. Single rooms are 140 €/night, double rooms 160 €/night and double rooms with extra bed 180 €/night. If you want to reserve other than single room and/or for other than Monday-Tuesday night, please contact the hotel: reservation number is: 2690 2388. 

Room reservation is firm and is made at the event registration. Booking will be paid at the hotel upon stay by guest, with the exception for country representatives E3S will pay for the room.

Room reservation needs to be made by 18 April 2020.




To encourage participation for sensory science students across Europe, a dedicated student session will be organized in the seminar. Students are invited to submit an abstract of their research for a flash presentation, which will be reviewed and scored by an independent scientific judging panel. One or two awards will be granted with 100-400 euros.

To apply for this award you must:

  • Be a PhD Candidate and an E3S/ETS member
  • Submit a short abstract (see instructions below) 
  • A short CV (max 1 page)
  • A supporting letter from a supervisor confirming eligibility of the student
