Welcome to WAM! World After Malaria, a festival of films, music, talks and art exploring what public health looks like beyond headlines of crisis and towards public health as heritage.
The event is free, but space is limited so please register.
Highlights include a new film about the scientist who discovered the end of malaria in Finland, an Ottoman melodrama combining storytelling with live musical performance, an immersive theatrical walkthrough installation about fever and Shakespeare, an book launch by Professor Ann Kelly of Oxford University titled 'Mosquito Work, and African Dialogues with Dr Marceline Finda from Ifakara Health Institute in Tanzania.
The programme is designed for non-academics and academic alike and you are welcome to attend any individual part or the whole event. All venues are wheel chair accessible. The event takes place at the Swedish School of Social Sciences at the University of Helsinki on Friday 13th November and at Lapinlahden Lähde on Saturday 14th November. The event is hosted and curated by Pekka Tuominen and Khalil Avi Betz-Heinemann and supported by a grant from the KONE Foundation.
