Think Talks. Educating Future Innovators.
Technological competence and AI are the citizen skills of the 21th century. How quality education and innovative lifelong learning initiatives can support the creation of technologies and AI that enhance equality, inclusion, sustainability and transparency?
The University of Helsinki and the Finnish Institute in London wish to invite you to “Think Talks: Educating Future Innovators” expert event on technology and AI education at the Finnish Institute in London (address: Unit 1, 3 York Way, Kings Cross, London N1C 4AE)) on October 24 at 08.30 – 10.30 am.
The speakers of the seminar will include Dr. Teemu Roos, Associate Professor of Computer Science (Machine Learning and Data Science) at the University of Helsinki and the Leader of the AI Education Program in the Finnish Centre for AI (FCAI) and Dr. Kaiju Kangas, Associate Professor, Technology Education, University of Helsinki.
In their presentations, Teemu and Kaiju will discuss what the future of technology education could, or should, be in basic and teacher education as well as in lifelong learning. How we can democratize technology and AI education in order to educate innovative human beings, who are able to use and create technology for more sustainable future. They will also address the issue of creating inclusive and equitable lifelong learning initiatives and discuss new models of collaboration. One example of this is Elements of AI; a free one-line course that has over 195,000 registered students so far and has been ranked on Class Central as one of the highest-quality free online courses.
The discussion will be anchored in the Finnish education context known for an equal school system for all pupils, teacher education based on scientific research and an exceptionally high status enjoyed by the teaching profession – characteristics which make Finland a world leader in education.
