Dear members of the Scandinavian Society of Periodontology,
We would like to invite you to this year’s Scandinavian Society of Periodontology congress, which will be held in Mariehamn, Åland Islands, Finland, on 24-26 August 2017.
The congress program will cover an essential topic to discuss “Periodontal treatment and maintenance: Do we need to medicate to regenerate?” While the elimination of the infection and inflammation, and regeneration of the lost tissues are the ultimate goals in therapy of periodontitis and peri-implantitis, excessive and unnecessary medication use has already become a global problem. Twelve invited lecturers from eleven universities will present evidence from the current literature on “medication to regeneration” and discuss the need of change in the present treatment modalities. In addition, program will include prestigious Jens Wærhaug lecture. Last but not least, young investigators will have chance to present their study results in poster presentation sessions. Among the submitted poster abstracts, four best studies will be invited to compete in Young researcher award competition.
The location of this year’s meeting, 156 years-old Mariehamn city, the capital of Åland islands, will bring an additional excitement to the congress with its beautiful and exotic archipelago. Welcome reception will be hosted by the City of Mariehamn and a visit to the famous Åland Maritime Museum will be a part of the congress program.
We look forward to see you in the beautiful Finnish archipelago.
